Here we see the Colt Lightweight Stainless Commander pistol with a few related goodies. Above the gun is a Chip McCormick ten-round magazine. To the right is a Wilson Combat seven-round magazine. Below the gun is an unmarked seven-round mag. All of these magazines are made of stainless steel. To the left of the gun is a pair of grip panels made by Vu Kim Son of Vietnam, which I believe are made of water buffalo horn.

The magazines in the photo are loaded with Federal Hi-Shok hollow point ammo, which unfortunately hasn't always proved to feed reliably in this pistol. Needless to say, I don't carry this pistol much. If I did, I would use ammo that always cycled properly, every time.

This gun came with a story. True or not, I don't know, but here's the condensed version: Guy bought this pistol to keep in his car. Changed the grips and maybe some other things, kept it under his car seat. Gun was stolen from car. Guy put the word out on the street that he would ransom it back. Guy was contacted by, and met with, a drug dealer who had the pistol, Guy bribed the thug to get it back. Then guy bought a cheaper gun to go in his car, and sold this one.

True or not, at least it's interesting.

I think this is a good pistol, but after having owned it I prefer full size 1911s. They seem a little less finicky about ammo, and are only 3/4" longer. Besides, Daddy's 1911 was full-grown.
