Tuesday morning we headed back into Richard's valley for another round of slaving, this time without even a nice big breakfast to get us started. We set the four pre-built walls and the roof, then headed back to camp for lunch. Then the concrete for the ramp showed up, and we headed down to the ramp to meet with the other folks and get to work on that. We poured about forty feet of concrete ramp on a steep slope, Richard and I on our knees the whole way, working the skrete board.

A couple views of the work in progress. On the left, Ken rests after the front and rear walls are set. On the right is a view after setting the third wall. Gee, ya think Richard framed this thing heavy enough? Sheesh.

With one roof panel in place. That's a four-by-eight-foot panel, folks!

Richard's ready for the second roof panel now, which I will walk up that ladder from below. I'm not exactly looking forward to it!

After that nasty deed is done, and both roof panels are in place.

With all-metal roof (complete with eave drip), and the carpeted windowsills installed. Richard's fiddling with his leather swiveling office chair in there now.

The boat ramp, a few days after we poured it. We started way down there by the water!

Not having done enough work for one day, we borrowed a circular saw from Derrell and cut up the lumber for Ken's stand, hauled it down into his hole and started work on it. When the second battery for my cordless drill died, we pulled out and went fishing. We got about an hour of recreation in before dark. Some vacation. Good thing we took two weeks, we'll need the second to recover from the first!

Our first day's work got the material in the woods and the deck in place.

Wednesday morning we finished Ken's stand, and a thing of beauty it is. Did I mention I was chief architect and engineer? We then met a rep from Georgia Power to discuss a proposed bridge over a creek bottom near the lake (Lake Sinclair, which is man-made and owned by Georgia Power). That was about three hours ago. Ken's napping now, Dad and Richard are playing Rummy, and I'm writing this. After tomorrow, maybe I'll have more time for shooting, hunting, and fishing, and less time for working!

Ken's messing with the ladder after his stand was completed.

Richard and I admiring the view.

Wednesday afternoon was spent fishing with Ken and Richard. We did fairly well, catching bluegill and catfish as usual. Ken thought this was going to be his last chance to catch a fish, but we did manage to get back out once more before he had to depart.

Ken and Dad, exchanging pleasantries, no doubt. Ken's wiping off the range which my wife fell out of love with. It still works great, and everyone at the camp was quite tickled when I offered it for use there instead of selling it.
