When converting an old military bolt-action rifle to sporting use, it's common to modify the bolt handle. This makes the gun easier to use (you don't have to move your hand as far to operate the gun) and also allows for the use of a top-mounted scope - which straight bolt handles do not. Here's how I did it on this old Mauser. There was some trial and error (and failure) involved, but in the end I succeeded, and I'm proud of the results. Check it out and see what you think.
