Saiga12

Saiga12 is a great semi-auto built on the AK platform. Also, the price is right and it uses a box magazine like a rifle.

best shot gun

The best and most trusted semiauto shot gun is Baikal Autoloader. I have shot more than 500 rounds in one day and it is just not tired.

Best 3 1/2" semiauto: Winchester SX-3

Winchester SX-3. Comes to the shoulder very naturally and never misses a beat. Over 6 months I've run 1700 rounds of mixed shotshells through it, including many, many 7/8 oz #9 1/2 skeet loads that weren't supposed to function in this gun... and it went bang! every time.

Franchi 48 AL

My favorite is the Franchi 48 AL because it's inertia-driven. Shoots smooth, no misfires, and it comes in different gauges.

Baikal MP-153

Inexpensive, tough as nails, always goes bang. The Italian importer ran 5000 shells through the Baikal in 5 days without a hiccup. Best value by far for a 3 1/2" autoloader. If it ever craps the bed I'll get a Browning Maxus at 3 times the price. But looking at the way this thing is built I'd have to drive over it with my truck to kill it.

Remington Model 11

Old, heavy, reliable, and kills on both ends. After 3 shots, look at your black and blue shoulder.

Beretta A391 Xtrema 2

Bar none the best autoloader for hard core waterfowlers.

Gets the Job Done

I like my Mossberg 935 auto. It gets the job done without the high price of other shotguns, have never had it jam, and it handles great (easy to swing and always on target). For the money you can't go wrong.

Jay's Vote for the Best of all Time

The 12 gauge Model 1300 is fast and has great shocking power. It makes an excellent turkey gun. Thanks, Winchester.

11-48 Remington

I like the 11-48 Remington 12 gauge. I use it for shooting turkey and clay pigeons, and it does what I want it to. I got it for $250 and it looks new.

Remington 1100

I have raised four children and have taught all of them skeet and trap, always using Remington 1100's. Good value without the high dollar cost. Those guns are still shooting fine and will be used by the grandchildren.

Red's Favorite

I am a veteran trap-shooter and I have shot Remingtons, Winchesters, Brownings, and Berettas. I am very rough on my guns - I do a lot of hunting in all weather conditions when I'm not trap-shooting, and during trap season I shoot 100 plus rounds per week. I have shot many guns and I prefer the Beretta because it's the only gun that can stand up to my demands. If you're looking for a new shotgun, don't go with a Beretta just because of what I said. Shoot as many different guns as you can get your hands on and see which one works for you. In the end it all comes down to what you like the best. For the record, I shoot trap with a Beretta Silver Mallard and I have hit 99 out of 100 and a 50 straight and have won several competitions, and I shoot with a turkey choke.

Saiga 12 is # One!

Not mentioned before is that with a gas puck upgrade($50) this platform can handle a mix of 2 3/4" and 3" magnum all in one magazine(up to 12 rounds) without having to mess with the gas regulator. This gun can be personalized in a myriad of configurations( folding stock, collapsible stock, Front Sight Block, Vertical Forward Grip, Picatinny Rails, Pistol Grip after moving the trigger group forward, etc..). I personally prefer the 8 round magazine like the Spetsnaz use because after eight rounds your target has vaporized and one can only stand so much fun.

Benelli every time

My father got me into game and english sporting shooting, and he is a Beretta man through and through. So when I go out to a local clay ground, as a new shooter with a new Benelli semi auto on trail and beat him 41 to 38 I knew this was the gun for me. It is a delight to hold and shoot, never misses a beat. To make my chances even less I am a right handed shooter who blinded himself in the right eye (be careful cleaning that BBQ with a wire brush) who now shoots left handed. I clean it after approx 500 rounds and have never had it jam or miss a shot. I can strip it and clean it in minutes and the mechanism is the simplest I have ever seen. I originally wanted a Beretta semi auto until I saw how many parts had to come out to clean and that it wasn't that simple a job. I have now been shooting for 4 months (as of Sept 09) and still love my Benelli. I still get a smirk on my face when Browning and Beretta semi auto shooters tell me how reliable there guns are just as they jam. :)
