The Bottom Line

This product performs exactly as advertised, and is exceedingly practical. With the ability to be used on multiple scopes, its practical value is increased.
Pros
  • Simple, lightweight, and easy to use.
  • Reduces glare on scope's objective lens.
  • Flexible - will give if hung up on brush. Easily stores in a pocket when not in use.
  • One size will fit multiple scopes.
  • Rubber material won't absorb rainwater.
Cons
  • Iron sights may interfere with its use.
  • Adds bulk to any rifle scope.
  • May trap debris when negotiating heavy brush.

Description

  • Reduces glare by extending the shroud in front of scope's objective.
  • Made of flexible rubber material, installs by simply slipping onto scope.
  • Even when iron sights distort it somewhat, view was still clear for me.

Guide Review - Clear Shot Lens Shade

The Clear Shot Lens Shade shades your lens, What more could you ask of it? If you've ever looked through a rifle scope, only to see an aggravating, view-obstructing glare on the objective lens, then you can appreciate this product.

Lens Shade provides four to five inches of shroud to shade the lens - you'd have to be looking directly into the sun for it to fail (and that is strongly discouraged, for obvious reasons).

My Lens Shade is for 42-44mm objective lens, and also fits 40mm AO (adjustable objective) scopes. It works equally well on my Leupold Vari-X IIc and Bushnell Sportsview, both 4-12x, both 40mm AO. Other available sizes include 32-36mm, 38-40mm, and 50mm.

This product performs well, and I recommend it to anyone for whom glare is a problem.
