The Bottom Line

The TrailFlex harness system is an adjustable, well-fitting harness to which you can attach a wide variety of accessory pouches and packs. Its flexibility is outstanding, its quality is superb, its design inspired. My single real complaint is that during testing, it was easy to unintentionally knock small light pouches off the waist belt without realizing it. A way to lock the fittings to the studs would be nice.

All in all, this is the best pack system I have used, period.

Pros

  • Extremely flexible system with many options; includes hands-free hydration system.
  • A wide array of accessory components lets you choose what you want.
  • Adjustable for a custom fit, and you order the right size for your body.
  • Covered by manufacturer's warranty for as long as you own it.
  • Components are sturdy and well-built.

Cons

  • Made overseas (my prototype was from China).
  • Component accessory pouches don't lock on and can come loose at times.
  • Water in the drinking tube quickly loses its cool in warm weather.

Description

  • The basis of the system is an adjustable harness, designed to hug the torso.
  • Harness is adjustable and comes in various sizes for different-sized people.
  • Accessory components attach to the harness via patent-pending plastic snap-on studs and velcro.
  • Accessory pouches include 2 sizes of backpacks, 2 sizes of waistpacks, first-aid kits, ammo holders,
  • pouches designed for flashlights, range finders, GPS units, cell phones, water bottles, binoculars,
  • deer scent, turkey calls, and other pouches designed for more general use - and a seat cushion.
  • Harness has a back-mounted hydration system (flexible plastic pouch, with a drinking tube in front).
  • Accessories snap to the harness via Advanced Modular Technology (AMT) plastic studs & receptacles.

Guide Review - TrailFlex Pack Harness System

The TrailFlex harness system is something new, and quite impressive, to me. At its heart is an adjustable, well-fitting harness to which you can attach a wide variety of accessory pouches and packs. Its flexibility is outstanding, its quality is superb, its design inspired.

You will rarely find a ground-breaking product that has had as much thought and practical thinking applied to its design as the TrailFlex system has. It just plain works, and every time I look at the system I have to smile at the thought and ingenuity behind it.

The harness fairly bristles with AMT studs for attaching accessory pouches and packs. The pouches, backpack, and waist pack are all well-designed and well-made. Most of the pouches can also be worn on your belt, and they work very well as small pistol cases, too.

The large TrailFlex duffel I use to organize my many accessories is lined with AMT studs on one side, so you can attach the pouches to the inside of it. It's large and easy to get into, and has 4 roomy outside pockets - and bungies built in, for hooking it onto your ATV!

My single real complaint is that during testing, it was easy to unintentionally knock small light pouches off the waist belt without realizing it. A way to lock the fittings to the studs would be nice.

All in all, this is the best pack system I have used, period. I greatly appreciate its flexibility and quality, and I expect to be hunting with it for years to come.
