The Bottom Line
The CloudTop cover (optional, extra cost) helps with the coldness and noise. A strap extension is available. There's no helping the weight, but Hunt Comfort offers other models of cushions.
I think it's the best hunting cushion around.
Pros
- Well made product, well thought out. Made in USA.
- It really is pretty comfortable. Allows you to spend more time on stand.
- Has a wide carrying strap with buckle.
- Quieter than some cushions, especially when used with the optional CloudTop cushion cover.
- Has a three-year guarantee!
Cons
- "Waterproof" ComfortTEX fabric will absorb some water (the waterproofing is behind the fabric).
- The gel in the top of this cushion gets cold, and sometimes takes a while to warm up.
- It ain't light, and the carrying strap is a bit short (36").
- Without the optional CloudTop cover, it's not so silent when you slide your butt or legs on it.

Guide Review - Hunt Comfort FatBoy Hunting Cushion and CloudTop Cover
Hunt Comfort DeliversThe Hunt Comfort FatBoy cushion I tested is indeed comfortable. The main exterior differences between it and other good cushions I've used are in weight and firmness.
Note that I called these differences "exterior." That's because the Hunt Comfort cushion is certainly more advanced inside than any other hunt cushion I've ever heard of.
When you sit on the FatBoy, you notice it doesn't have a lot of give. It almost holds you up in the air and suspends you there - comfortably. When you pick it up, you know you've got something solid in your hands.
It's a good product, and I think it's the best hunting cushion available, but it does have drawbacks. The gel, while great for comfort, can get pretty cold, and then transfers that coldness to my hiney. It's a bit heavier than most cushions, due to the density of the foam and the amount of gel used. And the fabric, like that of every other cushion I've ever used, can be noisy in the woods. This is quieter than most, though.
I can live with toting a little extra weight if it means I'll be more comfortable, and the optional CloudTop cover helps reduce the coldness and noise. The max length of the wide (1.5") nylon carrying strap is a bit short at 36", but it does have a quick-release buckle so you can strap it to yourself, your ATV, stand, etc. - and a strap extension is available.
The optional CloudTop cover is good, but not great. I can still feel the warmth being sucked out of me when I sit on it, just not as quickly.
All in all, I think Hunt Comfort makes the best hunting cushions available, and this is one of 'em. I'm glad this company came along. Their products will likely lead to increased comfort for many hunters, which means longer hunts and more game seen. Comfort and success - what more could a hunter ask for?
