This light is no exception; it is well-made and well-designed. While the remote battery pack can be awkward and may get in the way, its capacity of 8 AA batteries makes this the brightest headlight I have ever used - and it allows one to keep the batteries inside clothing in extreme cold. The on/off switch is easy to operate, and the same switch changes light modes easily. This is a very good light. Pros

Guide Review - Princeton Tec Yukon Extreme HeadlightFrom what I've seen of their headlight products, Princeton Tec is a clear leader in the field. This light is no exception; it is well-made and well-designed. While the remote battery pack can be awkward and may get in the way, its capacity of 8 AA batteries makes this the brightest headlight I have ever used - and it allows one to keep the batteries inside clothing in extreme cold to lengthen their effective life (hence the name Yukon Extreme). The cord can be awkward and it often pulls at the headgear, which can be aggravating. The single pushbutton switch is easy to operate, and one switch does it all. A hard push turns it on or off, and a light push switches between the four light modes - high/low Xenon and high/low LED. The best part about this arrangement is you don't have to turn the light off to change modes. The high Xenon setting is absolutely amazing, and pierces the night better than many larger handheld lights. Lower settings save on battery life, and the Xenon beam can be adjusted from flood to spot if need be. This is a very good light, and if it's brightness and long battery life you need, this one works well. If you find that the weight of eight batteries is to much, the light will also operate with just four in the pack. Suggested Reading |
