The Bottom Line
This item performs as advertised, and certainly helps reduce fatigue from carrying a rifle with a sling. It doesn't keep the gun as handy as carrying it with the rifle in front of the shoulder, but most folks don't carry their guns like that anyhow. It works great for hands-free carrying, without worry of the gun "getting away from you," yet still providing quick access.

An Interesting Product, That WorksI'm a skeptic, so when I first saw this, I figured it was one more thing most hunters don't need. And, well, maybe we don't need it... but it sure is handy!
To use it, sling the gun behind your shoulder, hook the stock in the hook, and attach the safety strap if desired. Your gun will stay put, behind you, parallel with your spine, until you need it... then you just unsnap the strap, unhook it, and swing it around as usual.
After a few days of use, my gun would jump out of the hook sometimes if I didn't use the safety strap. Re-bending the hook helped, and if the safety strap was used the gun never "got away." This is a great item, which I'll use often, especially when I need my hands for other chores... like dragging a buck!
