Here we see the right side of the Ruger Security Six. On the right side of the frame, below the cylinder, is stamped "RUGER SECURITY-SIX." To the right of that, Ruger's trademark phoenix logo is unevenly stamped (the stamping is lighter at the bottom). On the right side of the barrel, ".357 MAGNUM CAL." is stamped.

When it was introduced, the Security Six represented a departure from some other revolver designs. The frame is made in one piece, with no sideplate, and major disassembly can be accomplished with no more tools than a coin to remove the grip screw and a pin included by the factory (which is stored under the grips).

Known for its strength rather than for a smooth double action (which it lacks), the Security Six/Model 117 and its variants have been known to fire many thousands of rounds without problem or complaint.
