I shot one 22 bolt-action rifle that was unmarked except for the "22 Long Rifle" stamped on the side of the heavy barrel. It was apparently an unmarked specimen of Winchester's new Wildcat model (I later saw this same rifle on display as a Wildcat at the SHOT Show), and it left me unimpressed. Magazine is removable single-stack box type, all plastic, and worked fine, but accuracy was not good at all. It's worth noting that the barrel on this gun was not a production barrel, so my results may not be typical.
The other rimfire rifle I shot was worlds away from the Wildcat, and that was the Browning T-Bolt. This sweet little popper has a straight-pull bolt, which makes for very easy - and fast - chambering of ammo. Ammo feed was flawless and very smooth, and the magazine itself is innovative.
The T-bolt features a modified rotary magazine that loads ten rounds in an "S" shape (Browning calls it a Double Helix). Call it what you want, it's cool - and it means the magazine doesn't protrude down below the level of the stock. It also has a handy little notched wheel to assist in loading the magazine - you use it to relieve the spring pressure. All in all, a very nice rifle that should enjoy a long and fun-filled future.
