Mark Your Lever

AK-47 Safety Lever, Marked for Cutting
I determined that I wanted my lever to be in about the full safety (up) position when it was holding the bolt open, so I grabbed a standard lead pencil and marked a depth line all the way across the lever. Then I held the bolt back and marked two lines on the lever, one for each side of the cut, using the bolt handle as a guide. I removed the action spring in order to make this easier - see the field stripping step-by-step for instructions on how to do this. After marking the lever, remove it from the gun.
