Notching an AK-47 Safety Selector Lever for Bolt Hold-OpenDecide Whether or Not to Cut Your AK's Selector (Safety) Lever AK-47 Safety Lever, Before Cutting I decided that I wanted my gun to have a bolt hold-open feature, and that it was worth chopping my selector lever (safety) to do so. This operation does not in any way affect the operation of the safety as far as preventing the gun from firing - it simply adds a function that the designer left off.
