Field-Stripping an AK-47 Rifle (and Variants)

At the rear of the receiver cover is a knurled protrusion that sticks out. Push this forward with your thumb while lifting upward on the receiver cover. The cover will come up at the rear when it's released. Pay attention to the groove in the rear sight that retains the cover - you'll want to remember that when you put it back together.
