It all began with a ratty old rifle which Dad bought at a yard sale for the whopping sum of twenty-five bucks. Although he already had a Model 94, he steadfastly refused to sell the gun to me at the same cost. Years later, I managed to swap him out of it for a gun in almost-new condition, and some years after that, I tackled the task of refinishing the gun.
While I was at it, I refinished the stock, and I decided to give Lin-Speed Oil another chance. Years earlier, my first gun stock refinish had been with Lin-Speed, and it had produced poor results. As I prepared for this project, the owner of Lin-Speed contacted me and asked me to give it another try. Naturally, I agreed.
This is the story of refinishing that Winchester's stock with Lin-Speed Oil.
