We'll wrap this up with a funky composite photo, showing both sides of the rifle. At first glance it may look like a mirror image, but the picture actually shows both the right and left sides of the rifle.

I feel good. I can now declare an end to this project, and feel free to begin another.

Speaking of declarations, I'll go ahead and give Birchwood-Casey Perma Fin my approval as a tough, durable, do-it-yourself gun finish. While it's no replacement for bluing in most cases, it is certainly a good viable solution for refinishing a gun that's in rough shape... and Lord knows there are plenty of those in the world.

I respectfully suggest that those among us who are, shall we say, mechanically declined, refrain from attempting to refinish any gun using any product by any manufacturer. But if you are a handy sort and you have an old ratty non-collectible gun whose value wouldn't be hurt by an overhaul, then consider giving Birchwood-Casey Perma Fin a try.

It certainly worked to spruce up this rough old popper.
