I got very tired of cleaning my airbrush. The good part is that Perma Fin cleans up with water before it sets, so you don't need solvents to clean the airbrush. After it's set up on a clean surface, Birchwood-Casey (B-C) says that solvents won't help you - the only way to remove it is with abrasives.
Perma Fin itself is a watery black liquid, and it's packaged in the obligatory blue plastic 3-ounce bottle shared by many of B-C's other gun care products. I noticed tiny chunks of solid black something in the liquid, and these can be a real pain.
During the latter part of the spraying process, I came much nearer to insanity than I have ever been before, due to the constant clogging of the airbrush nozzle. I attribute this to those little chunks. The B-C man told me not to strain the stuff, so I didn't... but before my next project I'll have to either try another airbrush or maybe try straining the Perma Fin to remove the larger bits, and see how that goes.
The photo shows the bolt, link, rear sight, and locking bolt hanging up, ready for the finish.
Even after thorough shaking of the Perma Fin, initial coats go on thin and transparent. Don't fret - it will darken up. Four or five coats will do the job.
