I still believe that while we live in the good ol' USA, we will remain free as long as We the People remain vigilant and willing to speak up. I still believe this on some level, in spite of indications to the contrary (we have often failed to curtail abridgement of our freedoms, even when we protest loudly). Partially because of that belief, I think HR 45 has been thrown forward at this time in an attempt to distract us from the things that are slipping through the cracks and becoming laws - the things which don't sound as bad at first, but which eventually will amount to the same thing.
I'm outraged and discouraged that we have allowed our government to be infiltrated by so many politicians who have no interest in doing things by the people and for the people, who instead wish only to subjugate the American people and further destroy the way of life that the USA's founding fathers fought for. And how better to control a population than to remove its guns? I, for one, fear any government that wants to disarm me.
This website is all about hunting and shooting, both of which are seriously threatened by the Obama administration and Congress. As much as I despise politics, I love my freedom even more. Our freedom. And it's no exaggeration to say that our freedom is under attack, now more than ever.
Take Action
Gun Owners of America (GOA) has an improved website in place, which includes convenient ways to contact your Senators and Representatives. Please use this resource. Make some noise. Check the GOA site often for updates, and at least email those in Congress who are supposed to be representing us and our concerns. While you're at it, go ahead and urge them to support pro-gun legislation, some of which is currently being considered.
Speak up, people. It's the only legal way we have to fend off the kinds of legislation - and legislators - that would strip us of our freedoms. Everyone - whether you own a gun or not - needs to take action now, or risk losing all of the freedoms that Americans have historically held dear. Including our right to own guns for hunting, recreational shooting, and self-defense. This means you.
