Definition: Tripod stands consist of seats and/or platforms atop a three-legged structure, usually made of steel. These stands can come in handy when there are no proper trees located in an area you want to hunt.
Disadvantages can include lack of cover to block wind or burning sunlight (as you may end up setting it up in a wide-open location) and lack of portability - once you set it up, you don't want to mess with moving it very often, if at all. One of the main advantages is that you don't have to depend on finding a suitable tree to set up a tripod.
