Hang-On Tree Stand

Hang-On Tree Stand

Gorilla Treestands
Definition: These stands are popular with some hunters, but personally, I don't like them at all. The idea is to take a hang-on stand up a tree - and how you get up there is your own business, as these stands make no provision for getting you up or down - and attach the stand to the tree.

Common attachment methods include straps, chains, bolts, and cables. Once you have the stand attached, you have a small platform lassoed to the tree, usually with a tiny seat and often no railing of any kind. You will usually have nothing around you to keep you from falling off, so use a safety harness!

Methods for getting up the tree vary from ladders of different types, to screw-in steps (often illegal) or strap-on steps (too precarious for me), to just using existing tree limbs to help you climb.
