About the Hunt
We arrived shortly after sunup and were soon shoving smaller swine out of our way. The hunt party was: my father, our friend Richard, and I. Richard and I could see each other from our stands, and we saw no game for about two and a half hours. Dad was farther down, and had pork around him all the time.
When the pigs finally came, Richard and I each shot one. I shot first, with a .44 magnum carbine (225-grain Barnes XPB and 17.5 grains of 2400). I had to finish him since he was still alive though anchored, so I used a Sierra 240-grain JHC over 22 grains of 2400.
I also used the Sierra load to finish Richard's pig, because the shot from his 30-06 (Remington 150-grain Core-Lokt factory) failed to anchor it. That pig stayed nearby in thick brush until we found it, got close, and put it down.
Dad killed his with one shot from his .44 carbine, using a Hornady 240-grain XTP bullet over 22 grains of 2400.
We enjoyed the camaraderie at the skinning shed, took some photos, and were off towards home by early afternoon. All in all, a very enjoyable hunt!

Three not-so-little pigs... and three happy hunters!
