Gore-Tex Supprescent Clothing by Browning

Browning Gore-Tex Supprescent Hydro-Suede Hunting Clothing
(photo property of W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc.)
Guide Rating -
Pros • Waterproof and windproof.
• Controls scent.
• Roomy fit, but not too big.
• Calf zippers (with flaps) on pants for easy-on.
• Flaps on jacket pockets keep water etc. out.
• Removable, adjustable hood.
• Adjustable cuffs on jacket.
• Hydro-Suede fabric seems tough and durable.
• Stand-up collar helps keep drafts off your neck.
• Dries fairly quickly.
• Very snug in cold weather.
• Add features via Xchange System.
Cons • Somewhat noisy fabric (Hydro-Suede).
• Not very breathable--hot in warm weather.
• Pants have just one hip pocket.
• Zipper pulls on leg pockets should be reversed.
• No flaps on leg pockets.
• Tall sizes not available.
• Made in China.
The Bottom Line - These garments are of an overall high quality, although one drawstring stop on the hood of mine doesn't work. They kept me 100% dry in some nasty conditions, and shrugged off the biting wind. I can't measure scent suppression, but I'm sure they do that job well, also.

Guide Review

Good Gear From Gore-Tex and Browning
I used this gear on several hunts--deer in Florida and Georgia, and goose in Texas. In wind and rain, it really came through for me. I'm sure it does an adequate job at scent control, too.

While wearing it, I had several deer come within range without winding me--but I can't say if the clothing made the difference. It's great cold-weather rain gear, and kept me snug on a cold, wet, windy goose field in Texas in January.

When moving in brush, the side (leg) pants pockets unzipped themselves... the zipper pulls kept getting snagged. The sleeves are a bit short, since I couldn't get a tall size.

Overall, this is good high-quality gear, and I will be depending on it whenever I need to stay warm and dry in cold weather--with a scent-control bonus.
