SHOT Report: Kids' & Ladies' Camo
January 24, 2001
One of the first things I was asked about when I announced that I was going to attend the 2001 SHOT Show was ladies' and kids' hunting clothes. So, while wandering the huge section of booths devoted to clothing and footwear, I asked a lot of folks about this. I got used to hearing, "We used to have that..." But, a number of companies do make hunting clothes for gal and young 'un hunters. Here's a alphabetical rundown on those who responded in the affirmative:
DK
Flatwoods
These folks are based in my old hometown, and they make what they call "dimensional
camouflage clothing." I was told they have ladies' sizes, but haven't found
them on their site so far
Gamehide
"Hunting wear is all we do." So says the motto of this company,
and their clothing is designed by hunters. 100% guaranteed, and the clothes
look great. Unfortunately, their very aggravating website makes you wait while
the entire site downloads, so you "won't have to wait for any other
pictures or pages to load." In effect, it forces you to wait for everything,
rather than just the stuff you want. Ladies' and kids' sizes are available.
Key
Industries
This clothing manufacturer builds some camo clothes for kids, but not ladies.
My
Camo (3/18/03 - this site now appears to be defunct)
These folks make camo for kids - really cute stuff! Camo neckties and other
misc. items also available. No ladies' camo, unless you count nightgowns.
Rattlers
Rattlers makes snake chaps, briar britches, chamois work clothes, warm weather
clothing, jackets, and a children's line - in a variety of camo patterns.
Rocky
Boots
Hunting boots, waders, work, casual, and duty footwear. Ladies' and kids' sizes
available.
Whitewater
Outdoors
These folks make an extensive line of hunting clothes, including some for kids.
Wrangler
Click "Rugged Wear" for their hunting stuff. They have men's and boys'
camo listed on their site. The folks at the show told me they have some ladies'
stuff available, but I didn't spot anything on their site.
These are probably a fraction of all the folks that make hunting clothes for kids and ladies, but these are the ones I found at the show. I have these and many other links in my Clothing/Apparel links, and will be adding more in the coming weeks. Some of these sites sell to the public, and on others you may have to click a "where to buy" link.
Happy hunting,
Russ Chastain
