Deer Hunting Shot Placement

Wednesday December 17, 2008
There are times - way too many times - when hunters fail to pick a spot when shooting a deer, or they go for smaller targets than they should. This means their chances of a good killing shot are pretty slim. I have learned a lot over the years... it's tough to spend decades applying yourself to something without learning quite a bit about it. One of the things I've learned is that most of the time, the most important piece of the entire deer hunting experience is where I place my shots.

I agree for the most part but I was always taught for 30+ years, aim small, miss small. I always aim for a clean, quick kill which means behind the front shoulder or through the front shoulder. This makes for less tracking, if any, and a quick, humane kill. Just my .02.
